A Day out at Dovedale/Thorpe Cloud

daughter tempted to play in the water under daddys observation whilst son and I play in the cave from which ive taken the photo from

the little one asked me to take this of her and her brother, how cute!

little sister snuggling up to big brother, having a rest from all the walking, the the lad may moan at the walkings sometimes yet this 3 year old knows how to walk far bless her! (a few shoulder rides in it too)

now he wasnt leading his little sister astray but he really didnt know which way we were heading, so it was a case of thinking they know everything more than escapism

Amongst all the uploading and awarding awards on Flickr, I came across this from one of my contacts. I absolutely love it!

All I Really Need to Know ....

"All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergaten.Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school.These are the things I learned:

Share everything

Play fair

Don't hit people

Put things back where you found them

Clean up your own mess

Don't take things that aren't yours

Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody

Wash your hands before you eat

Flush

Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you

Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some

Take a nap every afternoon

When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together

Be aware of wonder.

Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.

Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the styrofoam cup - they all die.

So do we

And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned - the biggest word of all - LOOK

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere.

The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation.

Ecology and politics and equality and sane living.

Take any one of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm.

Think what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies and milk at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap.

Or if all governments had as a basic policy to always put things back where htey found them and to clean up their own mess.And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out in the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together."- Robert Fulghum

dry nights!

I shouldnt jinx it but ej slept last night without a nappy on and didnt even wee anywhere 'til she went on the potty for her daddy this morning oooooooooooooo i love her, she is a good girl! I bet she won't do it again tonight?

Sunday was a very hot day!

Daddy worked til around 11, he came home and made a mini picnic, we all wandered off down to the canal (Cauldon) and it was very very hot! After walking for a while and being very hot after our little picnic by the canal, throwing bread to the ducks, we decided enough was enough and it was far too hot! We all clambered, under and over a barb wire fence and crossed this big field, EJ was very tired by this time, she managed a shoulder carry by daddy a couple of times as we followed the line of the river.When we finally arrived home, the paddling pool came out, Jane and Ewan lent us their hosepipe and we filled up our paddling pool, well it wasnt just a simple paddle, oh no, within an hour, Dec, Ej and I were all wet and laughing after having a really brilliant water fight!

wow... So many Presents!!!

I was awake early yet there was no way I was waking EJ up at 5.30am to open her presents as she was only going to be allowed to open some of them and save some 'til later when Daddy came home from work and Dec Dec arrived home from school.

Dec was awake around 7am and I got EJ up from her bed around 7.30am, she came downstairs to her trampoline all set up, a disney princess helium balloon and some presents on her trampoline.

She opened two presents from Auntie Jane and Uncle Jeff, these were TY beanie teddies (x4) and two tops to wear (one pink and one white) and a denim skirt.

The trampoline was from all of us and then she opened her Barbie Mariposa tea-set which she loved and set up a tea party with her teddies, with Dec Decs help. Dec Dec gave EJ one of her two presents from him which was a Barbie ballerina doll.

Auntie Debbie bought EJ a ... toy laptop learning computer; book about a pony; song cd with song book.

Grandma & Grandad Cooke bought EJ... £15, yellow tee-shirt, beige skirt, long sleeved polo shirt.

Auntie Elsie bought EJ... £10 and a teddy bear.

Charlie and Lily bought EJ... Dora play toys

Kaitlyn bought EJ... fairy wand with noise and lights and a snow white figure doll

We bought EJ... Barbie Mariposa doll (the same dvd from dec dec), Barbie pop up play house, dora laptop learning computer, barbie balloon, dora trampoline and mariposa tea-set (as mentioned before).

We ended the day, with Grandma, Grandad and Auntie Debbie joining us for a cuppa tea and some birthday cake after EJ had blown out her #3 candle on her birthday cake and just the four of us, mummy, daddy and dec dec and ej, going to the white lion pub for a birthday meal for tea. I definately required an early night and after my eyes failing at the pc screen later, after a shower, ej tucked up in bed and dec almost ready for bed, I collapsed in bed and went to sleep around 9.30pm.

EJ definately enjoyed her 3rd Birthday celebrations yesterday and well we just cannot believe our little princess is 3 already.. where does the time go?

Birthday Peek-a-Boo's

After daddy and grandad construct the barbie house, EJ pops out her head to say "hello" we couldnt help but capture this, it was so funny!
It wasn't the only thing that was funny on EJs birthday... Oh no!
In the morning, Jane and Kaitlyn popped around with some presents for EJ, during this time EJs Nana rang up to say "happy birthday" to Emily-Jane, well on loud speaker, Sheila asks EJ, "how old are you today emily" well before emily got a chance to reply, Kaitlyn whom is proudly sitting on EJs new trampoline, proudly shouts out "I BE TWO" really loud, well it was so funny yet so cute, I was laughing and Jane was trying not to laugh loud with me being on the 'phone and Kaitlyn was laughing, even Sheila was trying not to laugh, Kaitlyn is so funny!

Smiling Balloon Girl... Out of all her toys, ej spent a fair while between the visiting of Jane and Kaitlyn, playing with her helium princess balloon.

A very happy birthday girl...EJ loving her helium balloon, maybe daddy made the right choice after all.
